Painting fork lugs

Has anyone ever tried painting fork lugs? I know you can get them anodized, but I am wondering how a really good paint would hold up. I know a lot of people are going to say get it powdercoated, but if I was going to disassemble the forks for this I would just get them anodized. It seems like a spot that would take a beating over time, but I have a paint that holds up pretty well, and I could always just touch it up if it chips a little. Let's hear some feedback.

uhh, fork lugs, are you talking about the top part, that is gold when they come stock??, cause im sure that work if thats what you are talking about

The lugs are where the axle goes.
