need advise on compression and rebound settings "new to riding dirtbikes again"

Recommended Posts

have a 1999 YZ125 rebuild the forks, and it has an after market rear shock.

i adjusted the rear preload to use close to 1/3 of my travel when i am sitting on it.

the forks feel plenty good as they are with stock springs "stiff, but not to stiff"

any advise, the ground is mushy cold out by me "28 degrees"and i don't know if its just the frozen ground with medium ripped up corn fields but i feel my suspension might be to stiff?

i am also going to an indoor track this weekend, so any advise i would be thankful from you guys:applause:

i would buy a book on the bike and look at the suspension settings and then set everything to the stock settings and then ride and adjust according to your symptoms, the book will break down all different types of problems of the fork or shock and then tells you what to adjust and how much at a time

just remember it is allways best to only make only one adjustment at a time

so you dont start heading in the wrong direction

When you say aftermarket rear shock I'm assuming it has a label of some sort on it? The only actual aftermarket shock I know of is an Ohlins. I suspect yours has just been modified.
