RFVC 200 & 250 Cam chain tensioner?

Recommended Posts

Hi Guys

I have been going over past posts on this forum and have noticed alot of people have asked for 2nd hand or new cam chain tensioners for 1984 - 85 RFVC XR200R's, I have just been on Bikebandit and I looked at the part diagrams for 84 XR200 and a XR250 (as these engines are quite close in design) and there looks like there is no difference or hardly any at all between the two engines tensioners does this sound right?

On the Diagrams it even shows the 2 engine share the same cam sprocket but different chain surely you could adapt the 250 tensioner to fit the 200 or is it totaly out of the question for some reason I am missing?

The only difference is the 1984 and 1985 had a short stroke and 2mm bigger or 75mm bore. 1986 they went to longer stroke and 73mm bore. Tensioner may be shorter too so be carful.

On the other hand, the 1985 cylinder and piston fit the 1986-1994 block making it 262CC so the tensioner I would bet is the same since they both have the same head height.
