94 yz 250 for $500.00-Problems?

Going to look at94 yz 250,for 500.00,what major issues to look for? I dont expect a cream puff,just what inherent problems you would look for. Thanks Max

If it runs, shifts through the gears and isn't stolen, jump on it! You can't go wrong. If it breaks,part it out and make $400 or more than you paid...

i dont really know what to tell you then get it jetted right chances are you'll need a piston or rings.they are heavy.

they are fast as hell tho...my buddies 94 is actually faster on top then my 2000

its prolly not the bike, it may be the rider

Nevered like the pre 96 YZs but for 500 bucks..Ride it like you stole it,,

nah not the rider im a vet intermediate and hes a novice ....and when we switch bikes the older yz still wins....on the dyno it makes the same peak power but 2 more hp from 6500 to 8000 ....and that explains why.....

Put it up on a stand and grab the swing arm and see if you can wiggle it back and forth any. The bearings in the swingarm are likely worn out by now.

luckily u can buy suspension bearing kits from pivot works to freshen the back of yer bike
