Sore Arse!

Recommended Posts

OK, I like the sitting position and appearance of the SDG tall seat, but man is it hard. I like to ride for hours up in the mountains. I was thinking of pulling the cover and cutting some foam out and putting in some sort of foam or gel pad in the place of it. Has anyone tried to do this, if so I would like to hear of your experience or advice and NO I don't want to ride with those padded bicycle shorts...

When I had my 03' yz250f the seat was torn up badly from the previous abuser ... I took the seat down to a local automotive upholstery guy with a new seat cover ... He pulled the old cover, replaced the seat foam with some new stuff, trimmed it all up and attached the new cover ... Cheap as cheap could be, great work and I'm sure someone like that would have different temper foams around in abundance ...

Take it to your car interior recovering specialist! For approx. $20 you can get a new seat cover and foam. Cannot understand paying big ducats for seat covers that provide free advertising for the manufacturer.

Have you tried the padded bicycle shorts? I love them, I just rode a six-hour GP with them and had absolutely no sign of the dreaded monkey butt.

Yup They work! but I go for days at a time and no one liked the sweaty shorts hanging around the camp site between rides. Sometimes I forget to bring 'em too. Just looking for a more permanent solution.

you can also remove the foam flip it over and take a hole saw and cut plugs out of the foam, (not all the way through of course) and it softens it up. How much depends on how many and how big of "plugs" you take out. I did this to a KTM seat and it helped a lot.

Those factory KTM seats are extremely hard!!! I use my factory seat for a hammer/anvil or anything else I need a rock for now that I have the GUTS seat.

Another STRONG vote for the Guts Tall/Soft. I have had mine on my 06 WR450 for about a month, and it is by far the best mod I have done yet. No more monkey butt, at all!!! Worth the $54-

Where did you get it for $54? Foam only? the whole seat?
