Kick Kick kick sputter sputter sputter

Recommended Posts

it is 50 degrees at the track today so i thought id get out for my first ride in a while. got to the track and got on the bike, turned the fuel on gave it 3 cranks, pulled the choke out, and started kicking. AND kicked AND kicked AND kicked! It fired up and ran for about 3 seconds then died. I did this for about an hour. every now and then it would fire over for about 5 seconds then die. when i go to give it gas to run it dies hard.

Any thoughts??

Vavles are on. Plug is good.

Sounds fuel starved. So as long as you have new gas, give the throttle a couple turns, a couple slow kicks to prime it, choke on, then kick it and that should do it.

Make sure the pilot jet/circuit is clean and clear with the mixture screw where it should be. Mine is very touchy about this. I couldn't go to an aftermarket fuel screw, it just caused problems starting and drove me nuts.

Drain the float bowl. If that doesn't fix it the pilot jet is plugged.
