How do I fit TM33 carb to my KLX 250

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I have a 2006 KLX250 and have just bought a TM33 carb for it. I am however foreseeing all sorts of trouble fitting it. I have read about the grinding to the frame that I need to do, but trial fitting the carb (without doing the grinding) shows me that I am going to have a problem with the Throttle shift assembly hitting the head.

Does anyone have pics and a detailed description of how they fitted their carb to their bike please.

Do I need to make a manifold for the carb to move it further back?

If so and someone has done this could they please describe how they did it.

Can you still use the standard push/pull throttle cables?

Thanks for you help guys

Rob

Hi Rob,

Bill Blue of B&B Cycle Restoration has developed quite a reputation over at www.KawasakiForums.com for doing exactly what you're looking for. He builds two adapters to make it fit the stock manifold and air boot, and will even bore the carb to 34mm for $75 US + shipping. Here's his contact info:

Thanks guys, I have email bill and will wait for his response.

Does anyone happen to have the instructions that were posted on klxzone.co.uk on how to fit the carb. Seems as the site has now closed. I knew I should have asked for them earlier :applause:

Cheers

Rob
