Starting Issue / Carb Issue

Recommended Posts

I own a 2001 WR250F with very low miles. Since I have owned the bike it has been a chore to start. I finally developed a routine that starts the bike pretty easy but it is contrary to how the manual and everyone says to start the bike. I twist the throttle about 4 to 6 times and then kick start with the choke on. It works really good but I know I shouldn't have to prime the engine like that.

Any guidance on what is wrong with my carb would be appreciated.

Best regards

You can change that exhaust cam out with an 03 e-cam that has the auto decompression and make life alot easier. I put an 06 yzf e-cam with auto decompresion in my 01 WR250F and I love it.

This WILL NOT make your starting faster. The oinly reason for adding a 03 cam is to make it so you can just kick through and not find TDC.

So in short, If it takes 20 kicks now, it'll take 20 kicks with a decomp cam. NO DIFFERECE.
