te410 cam gear position timing

Recommended Posts

hi ive just recieved my cd manual for my 1997 te410 (manual says its for 1995 te410 ) ive been having probs since my top end rebuild .and i think and hope i know whats wrong . when i timed it up i used a te410 E manual for the cam gear position lining up the notch with the case top with the bolts straight up and down .i know theyre different but wrongly assumed it would be same position . anyway the bike runs but not as good as it was . in my new manual (for te410 1995) the cam gear is positioned with the bolts lining up with the case top not mentioning notches does this sound right as im itching to get my socket set out ?

Don't know anything about the 410 but it wouldn't run if the cam timing was 90deg. off and the piston would be hitting the valves, so I think you got it right the first time. A tooth or two off will make it run bad though.
