NO, it will not. The hub sizes ARE different.

The front doesn't fit either. 70 has a 6 spline shaft.

Maybe they changed it when they went from xr to crf but I doubt it. My 97 xr70 had 6 splines. If I get chance at work today I will look at a newer model.

The front does in fact , swap . I took the front off the 04' crf 50 and put it on the 03' xr 70 . Maybe they changed it in later years .

Thanks, we are now trying a 45 rear and a choice of 13, 14 & 15 front to get the gearing we want for rocky mountain trail rides. Top of 3rd is not really needed.

The 13/45 combo gearing works quite well.

1st gear is as useless as ever but 2nd and 3rd pull hard up to a reasonable speed.

We had dry gound then got some fresh snow so I took the kids out motor sledding. I ride the bike and pull 2 kids each on 2 GT Snowracers.

The gearing helps me run 2nd and third and still have some snap though the bike has a 200lb rider and is pulling another 175lbs of weight.

I stil have a 14 and 15 countershaft sprocket to throw on if needed and that gives me some quick flexability with the gearing.
