So I took my bike in to have the Auto Decompression Exhaust Cam installed in my 02 WR250F. That was like a week ago. I purchased a 290 Athena Kit (On the way) So I decided to go ahead and tackle this job myself. I still don't know why I took the bike in to have the Cam installed, I guess I was just scared to open the engine for the first time. So I took the engine apart yesterday, and to my dismay there was little specks of dirt near the exhaust cam. And further to that I checked the exhaust valve clearences and they were out of spec!!! (0.006" and 0.005"). I haven't even been on the bike since the Cam was installed. Do you want to know how pissed off I am at this shop?!!!!! Anyhow, I don't want to take the valves completely out of the head if I don't have to. My question is, is it okay to clean around the top of the valves with contact cleaner to make sure I get all the little specks of dirt out? Or do I have to remove the valves completely?
