2006 dr200se mod

Recommended Posts

Put a 16 tooth front sprocket on the dr200se today. Cruising at 55mph the bike is not screaming anymore and will pull to 70mph with my 195lbs on it.

For street riding this is mandatory IMHO.

Got it from Rebel Gears part #655-16 $26.46 shipped. Seem like nice people.

There apears to be enough clearance between the new sprocket/chain and the case. My bike only had 440 miles on it so I had to move the rear tire forward all the way to get the sprocket on and the correct chain tension.

Keep a close eye on chain adjustment -

There's not a lot of clearance with the 16t and centrifugal force can work against you. Note the wear marks on the case from the side plates on the chain. Granted there was a lot more going on here than just a 16t countershaft but the potential clearly exist for contact if your chain is not kept adjusted properly.
