looking at buying a new 06 CRF450R leftover

Recommended Posts

Are there any issues or things to watch out for on the 06 CRF450Rs? I am looking at a leftover 06 and the Dealer seems to be giving me a pretty good price from what I have seen here on the TT forum.

Any thoughts or suggestions are appreciated.

Thanks!

just do your regular maintenance (oil changes regularily, and clean air filter) and do a valve set adjustment now and then and you will have no problems. Go red and enjoy your new ride man.

With as much history as there is on the valve thing, if you wanted to try to head something off at the pass, you could check the valve lash after the first 5 hours and then reset it at .004" on the intakes. That could extend your valve life by allowing the valve to seat more gently.

What kind of deal? I paid $5600 out the door on my 2006 in February.

My 06 has 50 hours on it and the valves haven't moved! I ride only at the track and hit the rev limiter once or twice every lap. Buy that thing and never look back!
