before you ride it, grease all of your linkage and such. also change that front tire. they really suck. i'd go strait to a Michelin starcross. have fun and make sure you have your skid plate screws tight and take off the front sprocket cover and leave the metal peice. and... i used and too much. oh well. youll like it! maybe get a Quickshot

Congrats! Since you said it was new check with the dealer where you got it and see if it was part of the valve recall for 06s and if so if they have already replaced the valves.

A must do is tighten your spokes. they will get loose after the 1st 20 mins of riding. You'll need to tighten them a few more times until they "take a set".

Do this: start at the spoke closest to the valve stem. tighten it 1/2 turn. Go to the 3rd spoke after that one and tighten. If you'll notice, that spoke is in the same relation (outside , left etc... look and you'll see the pattern) tighten all the way around doing that group of spokes. When you get back to valve stem, do the next spoke and do that pattern of spokes. It will take 4 times around to complete the job.

You need to do this after the 1st 3 times you ride. They will eventually remain tight (unless you're on a Honda).
