Bouncing

Recommended Posts

Hi, me here again!

Our 97 F-150 (v6, 2wd, 5sp, v5) bounces without a load in it. It happens around 40-42 mph. It's really annoying. Shocks seem fine from bouncing on the bumper. The bottom leaf in the pack (both packs actually) is a little twisted, should we fix that? Front shocks seem a little worn, but pretty good. Oh, and the front left coil is busted. Any insight as to how we cure the bouncing?

Thanks a ton guys!

A good place to start would be the broken coil spring.......

Then, start looking into a tire being out-of-round, a bent rim, or imbalanced tire.

Best guess is an out of balance tire. If the bounce goes away above or below the speed you indicated above you can bet you have a tire out of balance. Also you need to change that spring. One spring will throw the geometry off on every other corner of the vehicle. Good luck.rko

40-45 mph is a good speed for out of balance tires to show up...Rotate the fronts and back, see what happens.
