2003 KLX 125L - New to Me - Need advice

Recommended Posts

Hi All,

I just purchased a 2003 KLX 125L for my wife to learn on and it did not come with a manual. I have ordered the manual, but I need to know how to adjust the chain to the proper tension before it is ridden. I ride KTMs, so I am not familiar with the KLX's suspension. The chain is clearly loose, but I don't know how tight it should be. I was going to remove the rear shock and align the rear swing arm with the countershaft, but I am not sure if that is correct for this bike. I also don't know how to remove the rear shock, so any input on that would be helpful. My KTM does not have the linkage as the KLX does, so I don't know if there are any gotcha's on this. Feel free to chime in if you have any other helpful tips regarding mods, do's and do not's, helpful web sites on this model, sag settings, etc. Thanks!
