Head gasket help

i have an 03 yz250f and its blowing compression out of the side of the motor around the headgasket...do i just need a new gasket or could there be something wrong with the valves?

If the head gasket is blown, removing the head is the only way to fix it. While the head is off, you might as well put in a new piston & rings, and a new cam chain. While the head is sitting on the bench I'd pull the valves out & look at them. Chances are pretty good it'll at least need new intake valves, if not all 5.

But valve problems won't necessarily blow a head gasket.

Check the cylinder and head for warpage.

A warped head may blow a gasket. Check it and the mateing part of the cylinder. A gasket needs some "help" to blow. Did the engine overheat? :thumbsup:
