What did you do to your WR today?

What's the blue thing "button?" by your left grip?

As for what I did to my wr that's a really basic one . I kick started it , because I left the key on the last time I rode it . It took only 3 stabs to get it to start. I was kind of surprised because the battery was stone dead. I put it on the battery tender when I got home work tonight.

Re packed the wheel and steering head bearings with Bell Ray waterproof grease. Dismantled the swing arm and linkage replaced all the bushings, bearings and seals that where rusted and crap. Re packed them with the Bell Ray. I suggest that every one check out your linkage because I left it too long and really had to pay. Total on replacement parts with my good guy discount was $300.00 can... ouch! Changed the oil and did the air filter and the BEST mod... took my old Unabiker rad guards, which were useless, and made them into a license plate holder. She is plated and I can't wait!!

That is the push-to-talk button for my Sampson Racing radio. The blue thingy by the left fork tube connects to a stretch cable from the radio in my Ogio vest.

Is that like a earplug type earpiece on your radio ? to block noise and to talk. I know I wear earplugs all the time while I ride . They have earplug/earpieces at my work so they can talk to each other back at the corrigator.

no, the radio ken uses as well as my self are "race" radios...they have a helicopter boom mic that has noise canceling technology in them so the person receiving hears only the person talking. as for the ear set up they are almost like head phone status in that they are loud and clear. the radio's we use are vhf radios. this entire set up is what team honda uses in the score baja series.

ken uses a pre-programed radio were as i use a on the fly program-able radio (vx170) but none the less they are both vhf.

if you want more info do a search under the user name johnnyairtime in the baja section...tons of info there.

Yeah, this is the one I went with. Shawn Sampson is a guy I go riding with and is very helpful.

I've got the same VX170 setup. Got it the first time I did a JAT ride down in Mexico. Work great, but are expensive. I've got a setup for myself and my son. The full setup (radio+ headset) is about $350.

I drove 250 miles one way to buy mine. I got a 05 WR450 with a stuck float needle for $1800. Took about an hour to fix and it runs great. Mostly stock except for the normal mods, a skid plate and a yz exhaust. Can't wait to ride it. Jp

Man I love this place! I can't believe I waited so long to join up! I took off all the plastic (gonna try Krylon fusion) installed new radiator shrouds and polished some parts. I'm too new to post pics, but check this out.

Here's what I call being fortunate. I tell my wife I need to buy some new gear for my bike and a few days out this month to go riding. She's all.....no problem honey have a good time! I'll let you know who wins the football games. My life does not suck right now.

Left YZ peg mount- since I've had the kickstand off since day 1 anyways. Aways lots of trees to lean your bike on in BC

GYTR thumb hot start lever. Now makes estarting on the fly even easier :lame:

It's a high priced hot start being GYTR :bonk:

But at least the fit is perfect.

That and getting lots of riding in, we only have about a month to go before the snow

After hearing all the problems with the linkage I thought I'd better check out my 04 WR450F. When I bought it this summer the owner claimed it only had 370 miles. You never know until you check. No rust or water, a little grease, so it wasn't as bad as I expected. I cleaned everything and re-lubed with Honda Moly Paste 60. Here are some pictures.

Screaming deal! That's hundreds upon hundreds less than what's in our local classifieds.

I usually find the bike has been sold on me or my friend as we're making the long drive. I bet you were haulin' azz for those 250 miles!

Installed a new arrow exhaust on my WR426. Very impressed with the power increase and the sound (although it is quite loud. Not that it bothers me, just the neighbours). Got new plastics and electrics on the way to get ready for rego

Very nice Rekluse Core EXP 3.0 Clutch that has been ran for about 40 - 50 hours.  The Core EXP 3.0 gives you the best of both worlds as it is fully automatic and allows you to operate it just like you would a manual clutch.  Was getting ready to install in a 2017 YZ250F so I wanted to freshen it up and bought a brand new EXP 3.0 Disc which has never been oiled up or installed.  Before getting time to install the clutch, I decided to sell the bike.  It fits a 2014 - 2018 Yamaha YZ250F.
ONLY $575 shipped anywhere in the lower U.S.
Please call or text me at 801-362-8899.
      Thanks!

Hi guys I just did a top end rebuild on my 2004 yz450f and I inspected full motor, replaced the bottom end gaskets and seals, timing chain, cylinder, piston, rings, top end gaskets, valves, spark plug, and it ran fine fr about 15 hours besides a quiet ticking noise. I was put riding the other day and after about 6 hours of riding that day my buddy asked what my rev limiter sounds like and I said i don't know and I don't want to blow it up and he said it won't blow up so I started it up and pinned it to hear the rev limiter and I only held it open for one second and then it backfired and died. I tried to start it back up and the compression is extremely low. I can push kick it over with my hand easily. Pulled the head off and found some very small metal particles on the cams, timing was fine, and the top of the piston is ok, (haven't taken it out of the cylinder yet).... Anyone know what it could be???

Hello everyone! I am new to the forum and this is my first post. I would like to ask for some advice regarding some upcoming motorcycle purchases. My parents are in the process of purchasing a mountain cabin here in Colorado (Redfeather lakes) some time soon. The cabin is surrounded by dirt roads and trails so they intend to buy several dirt bikes for me as well as my younger brother and sister to put around on while we are staying up there. I would like to ask for some advice/ suggestions regarding which motorcycles would be the best choice for me (my younger siblings as well). So, I have a few years of dirtbike-riding experience on a crf100, but that is it. I haven't ridden one in a long time though I do have a sport bike which I ride a lot now.  I have an affinity for two-strokes and would love to pick one up. There are several nice older ktm 300 exc's on craigslist for around 3,000 dollars , as well as several yz250s in a simlar price range. I would love to have the ktm, but I am afraid that the maintenance cost will be very high despite it being a two stroke. The yz is a motocross bike but I hear that they can work as a trail bike. There is even one nice looking kdx 220 that I have my eye on (My friend says that its the greatest trail bike ever made. Is that true?). Would any of those be preferable to another, and come someone touch on the maintenance costs of those bikes (replacing top ends and such?)? There is always the option of a four stroke as well and I guess there are a lot more options there, though as i said I would prefer a two stroke. I saw a few nice xr400s, some crf450x's (is that overkill?), a REALLY nice klx 300 (my dad had one of these), some others also. Basically, can someone chime in on what would be the best bike to get? Does this all just boil down to preference? Basically I am just looking for a reliable, fairly powerful bike that I could pick up for a few grand and is preferably 2 stroke but doesn't have to be. Thanks!
