What spark arrestor

Ok, so im going to the mountains for vacation and we're gonna go riding there. I usually ride desert- I have a cr85rb- and i still have the stock silencer. For forest riding a spark arrestor is required so now I have to get a new silencer w/ a spark arrestor. Do you guys have any suggestions on which one to get? Im looking at the pro circuit 296, the regular pro circuit silencer, the fmf turbine core 2, or the fmf Q. Any info will be appreciated:thumbsup:

also, do you guys have any information about what to rejet my carburetor to, Im going from sea level to about 5000 ft above sea level.

Hey, The regular pro circuit doesnt have a sparky, I would go with the Fmf turbine core 2.

Where are you going riding? I am very good at jetting my CR85, so just tell me the place where you are going.

Im running stock jets right now, I havent messed with them since i got the bike:excuseme: Im going riding in Prescott, AZ and the elevation is anywhere from 5500 ft-7000 ft above sea level:thumbsup:

to ride in the mointains.. i am sure you will need to rejet. BUT if you can live with poor throttal response for a ride or too.. there is no reason to rejet.. unless you are running lean. and i like FMF!!!?

I've had good luck with the PC296. It's not particularly quiet, but no other complaints. The jetting chart in the manual was almost spot on for our '03 CR85 at 5,300 ft. I'd suggest you start there.

My son has been using the FMF Turbine Core 2 on his CR85RB for the last two years. He likes it. However, I did lower the needle one position from stock when riding in the CA desert (elevation 2,000-3,000 ft.).

Umm... You need a spark arrestor to ride on any public lands in California (Yes this includes the desert), you should already have one.

yes i have a sparky cobra on my fmf shorty pipe. it works pretty good but for 80 bucks. and its big and ugly and scratches the pipe up. it warped my plastic to, but it works so..

in my manual theres a chart and it says all the jets and stuff that I need to have:applause: I think its a 142:thumbsup:

THe 142 is stock, it is way to rich for 5000-7000 ft, im running a 138 at 6600Ft and i fouled a plug yesterday.

That's what I was afraid of. It's no biggy switching out the silencer though so it's probably better to go with a Turbine Core or Nature friendly spark arrester.

Yeah, i was running a 138 in the winter monthes, but now its hot so i was running the 135, but then i rebuild it and put in the 138, now im switching back to the 135

I currently run a PC Nature Friendly. I noticed a small loss in low end torque, but from mid up it is the same as stock.
