What is reffered to as the "Octopus" on the wr4oo? If removed are there any noticeable horsepower gains??

Removing the octopus really cleans up your bike. It also deletes some possible vacuum leaks (AND PROBLEMS) inside of your engine. I have never missed mine and my bike runs and starts great.
