10w-50 in a 05 yz450 ?

Recommended Posts

Do you guys know that you can mix 10-40w with 20-50w of the same brand and have best of both worlds.
If you do that, you MIGHT get a 15w-45. What would be the point of that?

good point, mixing the two could definately be a good idea. I think I'll just stick with the 10w-40 though, living in Michigan I seldom see hot hot (triple-digit) temps. maybe I'll just get a couple quarts of 20w-50, just in case, for a freakishly hot day.....

Not usually.

You can run 10w-40 up to 114 degrees F ambient temperature, so it's not really necessary to have a 50 on hand for the random single day. I use it only when the weather is expected to remain hot through an extended period.
