Anyone tried the Bridgestone 403/404 tire?

Recommended Posts

It's time for me to replace my stock Dunlops on my 07 KX450 and was wondering anyones opinions on the new Bridgestones? They got 2nd runner up In Product of the Year in the recent Dirt Rider magazine. I'm looking for a tire that can hook up on intermediate and hard terrain surfaces- like budds creek. Any opinions on other tires would be great also.

By the way- to all of you guys that recommended the 55 leak jet, thank you very much. I just replaced stock filter w/ a twin air and went to the 55 leak jet and 2 turns on the fuel screw and THE BIKE RAN BETTER THAN EVER. Had a chance to ride in Breezewood, PA over the weekend and the bike PULLED HARD with O bog. LOVE IT!!

I went form running dunlop 756's and the 952's occasionally to the bridgestone 402's which i feel a better hook up and the tire last longer

hope this helps.?

I'm running the stock tire on the 06 450 and I hate it. The rear I've replaced with the Dunlop 952. It's doing great for longevity, but I want to try the Bridgestone's next. What is the 403 and 404? I've heard that Bridgestone don't last too long, what's up?

They've lasted longer than the dunlops i used to use.?

With the rear tire wearing out first is it ok to replace the back and not the front? I would also like to eventaully switch over to Bridgstone?

What kind of tire pressure do you guys run on hard pack tracks. I ride on an indoor track that gets hard and slick.

Yeah i always go 2 rears to every front. 12.5 lbs on hard pack for me.

I've done 7 hrs with a M404 120/80-19 on the rear. 2 hrs on medium/loam and 5 hrs on mostly clay hard pack with loose stones. I believe the M404 on the rear is a very good tire over a wide range of conditions. In medium/loam I had to learn to ride my bike all over again - it is incredible. I found I could sit more rearward in corners and turn the bike more with leaning and throttle and less need for the front to guide the bike. On the hard pack (2 days) my friends thought I was riding kinda good (for me) but I thought I just had much better traction than they did. I could not work out why they kept giving me the inside lanes. Like open_class I always use around 11 to 12 PSI.

My prior rear tire experience was with a D756 and S12 in 120/80 and a Kenda Carlsbad in a 110/90. The M404 knobs got slashed up a little by the sharp stones but is holding up well. The Carlsbad is a good thrash tire for hard+stones, but the Carlsbad is also a heavier tire - even in the 110.

Hey, to throw in my two cents...I just put on a set of bridgestone 201/202 soft/ intermediate tyres on my 07 Kx250F. Has anyone tried these?? I ride mostly outdoor motocross and I was wondering how they perform on clay/ mud serfaces (occasional hard pack)? I got the tires for free so they can't be too bad...lol

I have an '08 and when my stocker junk Dunlop's ran down, I went with the Bridgestone 403/404 in an 80/100-21 and 110/90-19. The bikes hooks MUCH better than those Dunlop's plus it turns like it is on rails- no kidding, due to the smaller size. Also, I ride on mostly hard to intermediate terrain, similar to Budds Creek- I know because I have been there! Go with the 'Stones- highly recommended! just my .02 good luck

I can say with confidence that the M404-120 rear on everything from medium/soft to medium/hard, is way better than the D756-120 and S12-120 and Carslbad-110 which I have tried previously. It is like cheating.

When I watch the non-Bridgestone riders in the AMA MX on TV, I sometimes feel sorry for them. ? Yeah I know the "factory" tires in other brands *might* be better.

I'd love to try a M403-80 on the front, but I mostly ride in medium/soft, and my S12 works really good in that stuff. Plus the damn thing wont wear out on me. If anyone cam offer some comparison thoughts in soft terrain, on the M403 versus the S12 or D756F, in real soft, then I'd been keen the hear about it.

Also kyakovich311, please let us know how the M201 goes on medium to medium/hard? I've heard the M20X are for *super* soft terrain, which is too much of a specialist tire for my needs. I don't want to swap tires all the time.
