Easy Access to wire for charging battery

Recommended Posts

Those of us with an EXC fitted with a horn in front of the radiator have a ready made connection to attach a battery charger.

Simply disconnect the yellow/red spade connector from the horn and connect the positive lead from the charger, then the negative lead of the charger to a good earth i.e. engine bolt.

To make it even easier I cut through my charger positive lead and put a male 1/4" spade on there.

Works a treat!

I just bought a couple of ring, crimp terminals and soldered them onto a two-wire plug in harness that matched the leads on my Battery Tender. Bolt them under (or over for that matter) the battery cables and tuck it under the rubber retaining straps for security. When you want to charge, just remove the air filter cover and hook it up to the charger. No muss, no fuss. One little thing...you want to hook up the positive side of the battery to the 'covered' side of the wiring harness. That way it won't 'short' itself out on the frame somewhere.
