Resolving Battery Issues

I know this has been covered before, but can't find a good solution for this issue.

I have an 03 wr250F. I have gone thru three batteries in a year, maybe 2-3 rides on each...at the most.

The bike is kept on a battery tender between rides but the batteries still do not last WHY?

My guesses are these

1 - the batteries are cheap ...maybe they just don't last as long

2 - the tender is overcharging....it is a sure charge IV.

3 - the stator is undercharging when I am riding. (I do not use the light...day rides only) would starting the bike be enough to kill the battery?

4 - SHort on the bike somewhere

What is the best way to find the problem?

Thanks

Bob

My guess would be that it's something to do with the lights. I've always thought that they're supposed to run with the light on and disconnecting it can do nasty things to electrical components. I'm sure someone can come up with technical reasons for this.

I'm not 100% sure but I think if you disconnect the lights you are supposed to put a resistor in to compensate for the light not drawing on the system.
