Should have kept my XR650R

After three years of owning my XR650R, I decided I would do the "in" thing and get a new YZ450F like my friends. When I first got it, I loved the power, the light weight, and the easy turning. Well, I have had my YZ for a year and 4 months now. This past weekend I was riding my bike at glamis and my bike popped out of gear. I got it started again, rode 20 feet, and the transmission locked up completely. The engine still starts but only with the clutch in. I can't shift it into neutral and had to drag the bike back to camp. I have no idea how much this is going to cost. This really makes me miss my XR where I did oil changes twice a year, cleaned the air filter every ride, and put it away wet. The only thing I ever wore out were my tires. Can't beat Honda :prof:

The 1st step is admitting you have a problem, which you have done already. So.....sell the Yamaha and redeem yourself! :bonk: Find yourself a super clean used XR650R, and then you get to go shopping for upgrade goodies all over again!! Except, this time, you know exactly what to get for it since you already owned one b4. :prof:

I went back to riding my YZ 426 for while, but I always miss my big red.....

Look at it this wasy, if its lighter and has almost the same power, some metal had to be removed somewhere...

Its the difference between a lightly-stressed piece of equipment, and a heavily-stressed one.
