no i have not, but i was thinkin about doin the same thing.

With the wide ratio trans, not too many people go down on the rear sprocket unless you ride on pavement alot or open desert.

Did it...went to 45 rear. Found that top end gain is not worth the bottom end losses for me...back to stock now

14/48 for me. 14/50 stock. I tried 15/50 but the acceleration sucks....

14/48 is in between the two.

I think yamaha on the money with 14/50 gearing for stock.

running a 14/49 since new. The stock would probably be ok, but I run more open desert.:thumbsup:

I'm using 14 38 at the mo , the longest 1st gear ever , i hate it but it does pull well on the open road above 70mph (i'm running supermoto wheels at the mo) , i'm going to 14 49 now though as the open road is not what a wr 450 is for, but it does work for the road if ya wanna cruise :/ but ya dont wanna cruise do ya ! :thumbsup:

I run 16-47 on my dual sported wr. Sure it's tall but I still has more than enough power to spin the rear wheel up in almost any condition. I sort of wish it was taller for highway cruising. Maby I'm crazy though.:thumbsup:

Agree completely. 13/50 great on tight wooded trails, 15/50 for open dunes

I'm running a 16 /46 it tall in tight area's but we do big trips up to 1200 miles :thumbsup: also did great things for my milage I get 45-50 going down the road

Are you guys changing from 13 front to 15 front sprockets changing chains as well, wouldnt think there would be enough adjustment in the chain adjusters.

don't forget that when changing sprockets , always buy try to buy odd number teeth sprockets they last longer . because both the inside and the outside links hit every tooth , instead of like a even number teeth one the same kind of link always hits the same tooth .and always use lock-tite.

I was had enough adjustment for 3 teeth but it was close

plenty of room for chain adjustment, you just have to modify the case saver a bit to fit the 15.:eek:

I ran a 48 when I was running a yz wheel on the back of my 07 and I didn't like it much for climbing hills, or really for anything. It kind castrated the bike. Maybe the stock 50 is a bit deep, but when you want that instant thump, it is always there.

Which year model WRF are you talkig about?? Stock 2003-2006 is 14/50. Stock 2007-2008 is 13/50.

I am riding my 2008WR450F with 14/48 in Baja and 13/52 in the woods. It works well.

Depends on the motor. My desert bike with the motor mods (yz cam,etc) I like 14/48. Just a bit more top end and with the warmer motor spreads the gears out just a bit. When I ride in the mountains I swap the back to a 52.

I run 14/50 for desert terrain. Gained 5 MPH over stock, still loads of low end grunt.
