Cleaning up the frame..

I want to clean the frame up on my 2005 CRF250R because it's pretty beat up from boots and stuff and I want it to look new...

What can I do to make it look new?

sos pad and steel whool

lol mine is worse than that, but i ride every weekend so im not going to clean it up. i have used laquer (sp?) thinner... it gets it off, but once i use it on the frame i also clean the frame with water and soap just incase. hope this helps

+1 it works wonders. Scrub it nice and hard then hose it off. easy.

Maroon scotch-brite pad and soap when you wash the bike. Looks like new.

But if you do that everytime wouldn't it wear the metal so thin that it could be dangerous?

i like WD-40 with that maroon scotch brite pad for all the unpolished aluminum and mothers aluminum polish for all the other stuff.

it would take forever to do that..

If you don't like that look get frame gaurds

i cleaned them up right away with steel wool, took about 10 minutes. Frame isn't shiny new, but that annoying black stuff is gone. Thanks guys

Mr. Clean Magic Eraser and water. Works like a charm!

I second this!

I have also used (carefully) diluted aluminum brightner that is used to brighten pontoons. Toon Brite. A tooth brush and small areas at a time, rinse well and frequently. Recommended to apply a little aluminum polish after the brightner.
