14/47 & 14/41 with same chain?

Recommended Posts

Hi All,

I'm running 14/47 gearing with the adjusters 1 notch below 2. Do you think I could get away with 14/41 on the same chain?

Thanks - DDACT

Sorry think thats a bit too much of a gearing jump for one chain to cover. you probably need a 110 link chain for the 14/41 and 113 link one for 14/47 combo. but thats just a guess.

You've already got your answer, but I'll reinforce it by saying that I tried that combo a few weeks ago. Had to shorten my chain by two links. I had hoped it would, but alas...

Now, I've got two chains. A 110 link, and a 112. Oh well.

i managed a 15/44 combo all the way to 11/44 using the same chain. I think i had to remove 5 or 6 links. Thinking i should have went with a 15/42 -41. I was getting 60mph at about 6.5k. The 11 / 44 was pretty sweet on the trails but a little too low as soon as the terrain opened up. With a 41 or 42 it may be perfect.
