wr250r/x keyless gas cap

Don't know if the 49 state bikes also require the use of the key to remove the gas cap, but in california it does. I have been able to make the cap removable without use of the key.

It really is simple; take the cap off the bike, remove the two black phillips screws. Remove the plate, two plastic pieces and springs. Replace the two screws to secure the remaining metal part with the plastic.

The photo below shows what you end up with, the finished cap on the left and the left over parts on the right.

Hey, really nice tip...I do believe I'll perform the gas-capectomy myself when I get a chance...

In California you leave your gas cap lock on with gas prices the way they are~~~~~~LOL~~~~~~~

See even Yamaha knows about the Tweakers that steal gas in California!

Good tip. I dont ride my bike on the streets, only trail/track

bike. Thanks for the post.

Great tip, 60 second job! I would give you good gas:thumbsup: but TT won't let me.
