08 ktm 250 sxf bike break in?

Do i need to do anything special to break my bike in, or can i just ride it and beat the hell out of it like i normally do? it is brand new and im getting it tomorow. 2008 ktm 250 sxf.

If i were you, i would ride it easy for the first 15 minutes. Let it cool, then on the second ride, ride it as NORMAL but DO NOT hit the rev limiter at all, stay off of that untill the first oil change (first hour of riding). It is ok to put the engine under load during break in, just not excessive load. MAKE SURE that you do change the oil after the first hour of break in though, and then you should be good to go.

I've seen that link so many times in car forums. In all honesty though, i think dirt bike break-ins are more important than car break-ins. I'd def take it easy the first hour, regardless of any link.

Good post. RC50, you should check to see if your bike is one of the ones that has to be sent in to the dealer due to the recall.
