xr80 flywheel puller - WARNING

I'm just posting this up as a warning for future searchers. DO NOT BUY THE DENNIS STUBBLEFIELD FLYWHEEL PULLER for your xr80. I ordered the puller from dennis kirk and stripped the hell out of it the first time I tried to use it. Wasn't even pushing very hard. Waste of a week waiting for the motion pro model to show up as a replacement now. Hopefully that one is better quality.

Don't know if this was your problem but you don't tighten until the flywheel comes off. You get it tight then tap the bolt with a hammer.

My Motion Pro flywheel puller worked great.

Sorry you had such bad luck.

All of my Motion Pro tools work great.

(The clutch and brake levers are kind of cheesy, but cheap!)

On early flywheels, I had the strip too.

Just got back in town and used the motion pro puller with a little bit of kroil. Still took the biggest breaker bar I had, but it popped off.

For the record, I recommend the motion pro puller.

The trick is to make sure you thread the puller on all the way, then just put tension on it with the bolt and tap the end of the bolt wih a hammer.

I think we're talking about a different kind of puller. That would work for the one piece puller, but not this kind. You have to tighten the inner bolt against the crank while holding the outer one.

Screw in the outer puller. Snug the center bolt up tight but no breaker bar required. Tap inner bolt with a hammer.

Yep its the tap with the hammer that breaks the taper hold. Screwing in the bolt to "pull" it apart basicaly destroys the puller.
