i am not exaclty sure of all of the advantages of swapping tranny parts from a wr to a yz. i know you get 5th gear, and wider gear ratios, but what else? is it basically a wr motor after you do that?

No, it's a YZ with a wide ratio 5 speed. (sounds like you have a 4) If you ride primarily woods, trails, or desert, it's a good mod. You get a lower first gear for the tight sections without sacrificing any top end, and a higher cruising gear for the open fire roads, etc. without giving up the low first gear. It doesn't change the way the engine runs at all, but for MX, you may find the gaps in the gear ratios are wider than you like.
