Hey guys i got a 450 x and a 450r and i'm not happy about not being able to snap the gas like my 450r the bike just dies you have to roll into it for it to go. Now i know that you can cut the airbox and rejet the carb and i did rejet

the carb but i wondering about this cam for the carb that motosport sells for 100 bucks that looks like you don't have to do the o ring trick it is a replacement piece. And i also know about putting a 450r cam in the bike just want to know if cutting the air box and that cam for the carb will bring me some snap in the throttle delay. Doug.

1. what is your jetting set as? perhaps it is set too rich... what does the plug indicate? does the bike decel pop upon the easing of the throttle? what is your average riding temperature and elevation?-- I recommend either the JD jet kit or 'Skoot's $25 NCVS kit' for jetting purposes

2. cut the airbox per skoot22's how-to http://www.thumpertalk.com/forum/showthread.php?t=670993 , and remove the baffle http://www.thumpertalk.com/forum/showthread.php?t=485782 and the airfilter's backfire screen once you go with a backfire resistant filter(twinair powerflo)

3. cams have nothing to do with your current bog. if you still desire a cam for snap, here's a cam information spread that i got from AS:

Here's a rundown I put together with 450 cam info. There is a description of each in terms of what they will yield. Figure out where you want the power to be and choose accordingly.

Honda Cams

Honda 2004-2005 HRC Cam - Part # 14110-NLZ-650

Really strong to top end cam, with a decent mid range, but lacks bottom end.

Intake Lift(inches): .390

Intake Lobe Center (degrees): 110

A good all around cam, strong bottom and really strong mid range with a decent top end as well.

4. what will also help with removing bog is removing any smog emmissions control device that you may have on the bike. again, skoot22 did a how to on rendering the pump ineffective with jb weld http://www.thumpertalk.com/forum/showthread.php?t=670999 . additionally, you can try the redbeard, AP mod for a more effective burst of gasoline http://www.thumpertalk.com/forum/showthread.php?t=467294

168 main jet, ncvs needle 4th clip, smog block off, air box cut, and exhaust mod= no bog, and a scary fast bike!!
