best low maintennance silencer for Dr 650?

hey TT,

new to the forum but not to motorcycles. just got a DR 650, looking to upgrade the poor excuse for an exhaust system

whats the best option? i'm not looking to repack the thing every month (FMF?)

any suggestions? assuming some re-jetting will be required?

any advice will be much appreciated

thanks

/\ +1 on the gixxer can.

Pros:

- can be done cheaper than most aftermarket cans

- sounds like a real thumper, but not obnoxious

- almost the same weight as FMF Q2

- never needs repacked

- can be made forest legal with FMF SA insert

- looks awesome

- makes more usable hp/torque than FMF Q2 and many other aftermarket cans

Cons:

- locating necessary parts (can, mid-pipe, flange)

- will require some fabricating/modding (fairly cheap and easy to do for any metal working shop or welder)

hmmmmm.......didn't know that I should be repacking my FMF every month:eek:

If you want low-maintenance, keep it stock & spend your money on some good riding gear.

Pretty much all the information you need is in this thread: GSXR Muffler install

You can also check out mx_rob's home page for the information. It's easier to find here cause you don't have to search through tons of pages.

I haven't repacked my FMFQ in over a year. Can't imagine why I should.

Maybe if I raced it every weekend.

yeah.....my kind of rider:thumbsup:

actually, I do have a measuring stick for when it's time to repack the FMFs on my DR650 & DRZ400E

......it's about time when I start to set off the car alarms in my neighborhood as I ride by:eek:
