Supercross Killing the sport

Recommended Posts

I wish the factory's and the AMA would help grow the sport by helping get outside sponsors. Nascar was like this 30 years ago now look at them, you hardly hear anything about the make of the car compaired to the sponsor of the car.

It would be great to see all of the pro riders ride a bike that had a stock motor and maybe just mod suspension. I know we would see a whole differant season then.

It is sooo boring watching the same people win each race and its bad for the sport. Hence who wants to watch when you know who is going to win. It wasnt to bad in the Mcgrath day's got alittle old in the RC day but REAL old now!

You have a point, but it's not the factories job ~ it's the AMA's job. And they have not been doing very well with it. Which is probably why they sold it.

The factorys pretty much own the AMA. The AMA does whatever the factorys want. Bring on the stock bikes.

Heres a thought to RV and JS try riding with a privetier bike at the rest of the races this year. Lets see just how good you guys are!

#7 would still kill everyone. it would be like putting him on say a 125 and everybody else on 250's. i wonder what that would be like:thinking:

Sorry Sapp, but you spent too many years drag racing:p , RV & JS would still kill everyone on equal stock bikes......MX will always reward a better rider before it does a better engine builder.

I don't go to nationals because I can't see a damn thing. Its not a good spectator sport. Every two minutes, the riders come flying by you.

I think its better seen on tv

Stock motors mod suspension and you eill get the excact same results, The only changes you might see is some of the bigger guys in the lites class stepping up due to lack of power. Carmichael stated in an interview already that the 450's are actually tamed down and made more rider friendly "what the point of having a powerhouse bike that can't be ridden fast for a long period od time"

And whoever thinks stewart will own anybody top 5 lites on a 125 is out of there mind. The 250'Fs have just come too far.

I guess we will never find out who is right because of the AMA and Factorys. I think you would be suprised by the results.

Hell look at Lawrance couldn't place top 25 before he got a factory Yamaha ride.

If you shortend up the race times 30min to 15min, I know they would have a problem wining. Not saying the better rider isn't always rewarded just saying the results would change some thats for sure. Do you thiunk RV would want to ride a privetier bike over his? When he passes izz and hepler in a straight away thats horsepower.

Two things I want to say: 1) Yes Stewart would still win on a stock 450, but Villopoto would NOT win on a stock 250f. He would be in around 3-5. Next, James Stewart WOULD easily be in the top 5 of a modified 125...In fact, I will go as far to say he would be on RV's rear wheel. Im no JS fan, but I do know how he can ride...and thats wickart lol (inside joke, if youve seen Terraferma you may know what im talking about).

I think that would be cool if all had stock motors. And more rules that level the playing fied. I am also not apposed to a 350 class. I am looking more and more at getting a 250. My 450 is cool because its old. But riding the new 450's is insane. I dont need that much power.

you really think that matters? did you watch the last race when jeff and davi were battling.. jeff stuck to him for a couple laps.. and he ran out of juice.. factory vs privateer and they stuck together for quite some time..

put james on a 250f and i still think he could win..

Stewart had trouble beating roncada on a 125, they havent advanced all that much and they also banned the race gas thy were using, not to mention stewart hasnt ridden a 125 since 03.After Lamson raced his $60,000 cr125 he said that it would equal out to a stock 250F. If every rider out on the track, including RV were on a stock 250F Rv would still beat them all.

It's the AMA's fault! It's the factories fault!

Maybe it's not anybody's fault, just the big corporations have better things to do with there money.

MX will never be like NASCAR, because not many people can relate to riding off road, but they can all relate to driving a car.

Be glad about it, more commercialism usually just dumbs everything down.

Totally agree. Back in the day when Rick Johnson, D. Bailey, J.Ward, B.Glover, R. Lechien, D. Laporte, Marty Smith ect. Any of those guys could win on any given day. Not sure if it was the bikes or just the quality talent back then but every race was won on the last lap. Those were the Glory days of the sport, never to be replaced. Long Live Carlsbad Raceway!

Stewart and Rv just trainer harder than every other racer, take those two out of the mix and the top step of the podium is open to alot of other riders, millsaps, cooper, short, ferry, hill these are all guys that fight for second place, without stewart in the mix it would be alooot more fun. And yank RV out of the lites and it will be rediculous.
