Clutch Lever... To Use or Not To Use

Recommended Posts

I had a guy tell me he only uses the clutch lever when taking off or stopping. Is this a bad idea or a general practice out there? 🙂

I would not make it a habit, but I have been known to occasionally power shift.

I don't know the technical stuff about it like some guys on here may, but I have been doing that (in limited quantities) for a loooong time, and I get pretty good use out of my clutch. I usually replace it about once every 12-14 months, depending on how much I am riding - but I could easily get another few months out of them. I'd say that as long as you are letting off the throttle while shifting, you should be fine.

Then again, if you are more comfy using your lever all the time, do that. I use mine vast more than I don't -hell it only takes a split second to pull the lever, if you are riding with a finger or two already on the lever....

Sorry. I did search and didn't find anything. Can you attach a link?
