From RM, the 7071 Tusk tapers and 1 1/8 bar kit. They've taken a beating on several bikes I own. I too can't afford to keep my kids in bars if I buy all that high-end bling. In my experience these bars have held up as well as anything. I just got some Flexx bars, but they were used, and I haven't figured out if I like them yet.

i would get the pro taper SE bars, they are good bars and priced right,

also look for the MSR aluminum handlebars they are strong and the are cheap about the 40 dollar range, we run the MSRS for awhile now with several wrecks one a really bad 40+mph wreck with out any bending.

I've been running Renthal bars since '81. I guess when you find something that works, you keep using it.

Also, the Renthals are made in England and the others are Chinese if that means anything to you.

I think those Renthal alum's would be fine, but I am not pro on handlebars.

But please, I need a story on how this happened 🙂

i was jumping this rythm section by my house, what it basicly is it 2 roads right by each other, so the 2 ditches make a fun rythm section. i came flying up to the first jump and my buddy pointed down to road because a car was comeing. i looked and looked and never saw any car at all, well i looked to long and when i look back to where i was going there was a huge bale of hay right in my path. it was too late to do anything so i just braced for it and took the hit like a man. it hurt pretty bad. ( the bale was right in the middle of the 2 roads)

thanks for the suggestions. its between the pro taper and the renthals. the pro tapers are cheaper....but the renthal look so, so sick:confused:

I'd firgured your bike would have the fat bars. But if you run the 7/8th bars, I vote Pro Tapers. We run ONLY Pro Tapers in black. TT store has them for less:

good choice on the pro tapers. why dont you try any different bends and see how how you like them. they might feel better than the stock renthals.

Ive snapped a pair of Renthals at the crossbar brace mount on the left side in a 3 gear swap out into a rut move. Ive also seen threads of other that have snapped them. Never seen a broken ProTaper and Ive bashed my ProTapers pretty good. Crashes that my rads and rad braces didnt survive.

I've seen one set of ProTapers snap....and had they not, anyone would have thought it a miracle.

Guy took a HUGE digger on a 100' triple...well, the rider didn't but the bike did....it doubled and hit RH bar-end first into the 3rd face. The rider somehow got cross-rutted on takeoff and pitched into the mud alongside-he was soggy, filthy, and resembled the Millville whoops monster, but fine.

Snapped the bar off flush with the clamp-ProTaper replaced them at no cost.

Come to think of it, the whoops monster does look a bit tidier......🙂
