Good deal for complete engine?

Recommended Posts

There's a guy on ebay parting out a 1995 cr250. I recently picked up a rolling 1997 cr250 from a friend who just had the suspension done by Pro Action, and I'm looking for everything I need to make this thing run. Namely, an engine, radiators, carb, pipe, etc. This guy is willing to sell me everything I need to make it run for a grand. Is this a good deal, or should I bid on the engine individually, then pick up what I need as I go? I was thinking about an aftermarket reed cage, pipe, and maybe carb anyway, so....thoughts?

Yeah....

I've been thinking about it, and this is going to be my project bike, so maybe I should just get an engine, then add, for example, V-force reeds, a Kehin (spelled right?) carb, FMF pipe and silencer, and so forth, instead of getting stock parts that are going to be replaced anyway. I bet I can get an engine for 5 or 6 hundred, radiators for 100, and then use the rest for aftermarket stuff. That sounds like a better plan. (that is, if the engine sells for that amount)
