YZ 125 Engine

I am currently trying to help my buddy get his 98 or 99 YZ 125 running it needs a motor. I found one on Ebay but its for a 96 does anyone know if this engine will fit the 98 or 99 frame? Any help would be great since its on ebay and I need to bid on it. Thanks

Yes, it will fit.

Why do you need an entire new engine?

He bought the bike from a guy on base and he was told it just needs a new piston well NOT true the engine was welded together in spots that shouldn't be welded and now he just wants to get a new engine to make sure everything is okay.

Well, did he buy this bike sight-unseen? Didn't he look it over before parting with his money? I wouldn't even have considered buying a bike that I already knew needed a complete new engine, unless the bike was damn near given to me.

I think he bought it for $300-$400 not sure though but he did know the bike didn't run he bought it before I knew him and I am helping him get it running

It should work. BTW that engine will end around 5-7 hundred. Im gonna be putting up one on ebay soon.

Buy one off ebay and put your old one on and make some money back:excuseme:

before I would put it on there I would try to figure out what is wrong with it just so someone knows what they're getting into.

i wouldnt stick a 96 in there try to find at least a 98 since those have the six speed tranny.
