525 Chain. Where to find?

Recommended Posts

Went with a friend to pick up his new to him 1997 DR650 that has been a bit neglected. I see they run a 525 chain. Where can I find one? Is it feasable to put some 520 gears and chain on this bike. Need good but not top of the line.

Thanks

Hi, 520 is the original, but still verry good for all around use, the 520's have many chains, normal and reinforced chanis and sprockets, the 525 is almost like the reinforced ones, but better, a little more thicker.

Check out here for chains, 525's, also 520's there to, there is also sprockest and so, just select what you want:thumbsup:

Hope it helps.

any decent dealer and hundreds of online stores will have chain... 5 minute search and you'll have all you need

1996 and newer use the 525 chain and sprockets. The 1995 and older DR650 used the 520.

I have a complete set of sprockets, chain, masterlink on ebay right now, came off my 2003 DR650, they're not stock ratio, the PO had the bike geared down. The front sprocket is a 15-tooth and the rear is a 47-tooth. Go on ebay and search my stuff under the user name tmbevtfd. You'll find it. The chain is a 520H.

Thanks a bunch guys. I think he has decided to change over to the 520. Availability and options are worth a couple thousand miles of use.
