TMX38 Screw loose - please identify it

Recommended Posts

Sorry for the cross-post. I need an answer to this asap.. going riding this evening.

I took the tmx38 off my bike the other day and found a screw backed out. Looking at the parts diagrams for this carb, I can't figure out what it is, but it looks like it may interfere with the float slightly.

Is this screw some sort of adjustment and supposed to be like this, or should it be tight?

Not so familiar with that carb, but looks to me like it is to hold the pin for the float, it adjusts nothing, just to hold the pin in place. It should just be snug against the pin and that's it. On some carbs they put a screw like that one, others the pin gets trapped in between the bowl after it is put back on so it cant move around.

You may want to check your float level...they are often set too high and get worse with age.

I set mine to .720" with the carb @ 45 deg. tang just touching the needle.
