Idle Adjustment

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I have purchased my first 4 stroke (crf 150rb) and I cannot seem to locate the idle screw, where is it? Or do I simply turn the choke knob to the right? My bike idles very low and at times stalls.

The best way is to look at the owner's manual as it should be explained in there.

The FCR carbs have an idle knob on the bottom of the left side of the carb bowl. Turn it clockwise to raise the idle. It is black and about a half inch in diameter. (I assume it is the same on the smaller FCR.)

Having your bike idle low is not a bad thing. I was told that having the idle too high brings your corner speed down. Warm it up and make big turns while revving it a little, than fine tune it. If you have it right it should idle high for 3-5 seconds than idle lower and make a nice "put put put put put" kinda sound.
