Finally We win one!

From USA-ALL

"Dear Action Alert Subscriber,

This email has been a long time coming...YEARS in-fact. We are happy to announce that all the hard work from USA-ALL, our members, local OHV clubs, concerned citizens, businesses and local governments has finally paid off. You may remember a bogus emergency closure in the Factory Butte area a few years ago. USA-ALL had spent hundreds of man hours on proposals for OHV use of this area. Once the emergency closure was implemented we filed a lawsuit and spent thousands of dollars fighting for the rights of riders to access this area. The radical environmental community had been pushing for closure and it seemed they had won yet again. They bullied the agency into closing the area due to a endangered cactus, but we all know the push for closure had little to do with a cactus. It was merely a component in their quest for massive wilderness designation of over 9 million acres of Utah's public land.

With the release of the Richfield Final RMP we can proudly say that the anti-ohv crowd has NOT won. In the final plan the emergency closure has been lifted, and while we won't be able to enjoy access to the entire area as we once could, we have been given valuable access around factory butte and additional linking routes. We are currently reviewing the final plan but we have noted considerable increases to the final plan in contrast to the painfully restrictive emergency closure. We are talking about access to many thousands of acres more than you can now have immediatley around factory butte.

The environmental groups and their liberal friends in the SLC media are coming unglued calling this a give away to the OHV crowd...never mind that only a few years ago we had open, unrestricted, access to hundreds of thousands of acres in this region and now it will be less than ten thousand acres. We certainly wish we could have more but in a day when it seems the green agenda rules we are happy to have this small yet huge victory.

In the coming weeks and months the media and our eco-fascist adversaries will be spinning this issue at nauseating rates. IT IS IMPERATIVE, that the OHV community participates in any public discussions, radio call-ins, letters to the editors, etc. the BLM MUST, MUST know that we are appreciative of this, and that while we will bust their chops for harming us, we will also staunchly support them when they go against the environmental bullying and do what is right by us the people.

You can see the BLM Richfield Field Office final RMP (15-20 year land use plan) here: http://www.blm.gov/ut/st/en/fo/richfield/planning/rmp/August_8__2008.html

Stay tuned for more info as things unfold and this plan goes into effect.

For those who may care, USA-ALL has been struggling lately as our donations and number of donors has reduced significantly. The last 6 months have been very financially challenging for us along with many of our members. We have had to cut costs in order to be able to still work on important issues. We do not have someone answering our phones full time as we have downsized our staff. We didn't have a lot of fat in the budget to trim so when USA-ALL cuts costs it means we cut our involvement in fighting for access to public land. We truly believe that when we do that the public loses and the environmentalists win. We are hopeful that this victory will inspire our old members and some new ones to donate to us. This victory was a combined effort in which USA-ALL played a MAJOR role foe many years THE leading role, and as far as dollars spent and expertise on the issue we have more invested than any other group or persons. With that we still have thousands of dollars in attorney fees we are paying on the lawsuit for Factory Butte. We really need additional donations to help us cover those costs and to ensure our effectiveness on future issues. Please go to our website www.usaall.org , and print and mail or fax in the member/donor form, our online donation/credit card process is having trouble right now, so please mail or call in your donations. If you ever supported us in the past and for whatever reason have not lately, we are asking you to please donate to us again this victory shows what we can all do, but only if we stick together. We need EVERY one of you and your donations.

For our supporters: THANK YOU! This victory would not have been possible without you. You deserve the credit. We hope to continue to serve you in the future.

Sincerely,

Michael Swenson

Executive Director"
