08 KLR 650 forks bottom out

Recommended Posts

....on sharp bumps.

This has me puzzled,I have replaced the front springs with a set of Cogent dynamic springs and a rear spring capable of hauling my fat butt. For the most part the suspension is great. On smooth bumps the front will only bottom when hit really hard, but when hitting the sharp bumps at higher speeds,I get this really loud metallic clank that I perceive to be the forks bottoming, just like there is no oil in them and they are rebounding until they bottom out.

I see no damping adjustments on the forks so I assuming the only thing I have to work with will be oil level/weight.

Anybody else have this problem???

Suggestions?:)

Sounds like they gave you the wrong ft springs.

Should only bottom on big hits.

Oil level, oil weight, spring spacers and possibly tapping some schrader valves into the top fork bolt.

Some guys have done that with very good results.

Minimal pressure is needed- 10-12 lbs.

Check KLR650.net for more info.
