KLX300 head pipe, header diameter

Recommended Posts

I have been reading on how the stock head pipe is one of the first things that should be replaced to suck some more power out the the KLX. I measured the stock header which is 1.25" OD. I haven't seen any specs on any of the after market headers(FSW, white bros, etc.) to see which diameter they are using. i would assume they are using either 1.375" or 1.5". My question is, is one header any better than another for any specific rpm range? i.e. header "A" is 1.5" so it is better suited for higher rpm's, while header "B" is 1.375" and works well overall in all rpm's. I don't even know if they are any different, but I figure i might try and dig up some more info before pulling the trigger. thanks

My FSW header is 1.5" OD. Rpm isnt an issue. re leaving back pressure in the exhaust system is. The better the engine breathes the more power it will make.
