where to camp on Or. coast ??

I'm heading over to the Oregon coast next sunday and was looking for some input as to a good spot to tent camp . I won't be taking the bikes so trails are not of concern. I was hoping to find something that was somewhat primitive . I don't want to be hearing generators all night long . We wil be coming thru Corvalis , so anything 60 north or south of Newport should work.

Any ideas from experienced locals would be great !

There is good camping around the lakes of Florence, as well as lots of forest service roads surrounding Newport.

Around Manzanita on the north coast. Nehalem Bay state park and Oswald West are nice spots.

I think Oswald West is closed due to downed trees? FT. Stevens State Park, near Warrenton, is great if you like history. It is further north but has miles of bike trails, a ship wreck on the beach and it is fun to tour the old fort.

Devils Lake near Lincoln City and Beverly Beach SP near Newport are nice. They're state parks and not free though.

If you want primitive and free then head into the coast range and you'll have no shortage of private spots.

Thanks for the info, but it looks like rain on the coast Mon-Thurs, so we are staying inland a bit. (Greenpeter Res.)
