Broke another set of springs

Recommended Posts

Anyone else have a problem with intake valve springs breaking? Im using the hot cams stage 1 intake and exhaust cams and the yosh ignition box. Broke both inner intake valve springs and took out both guides. Used kibblewhite springs both times. Thought first time was fluke.

Is this an over reving problem or a cam problem? I was told to try the psi springs but even then they would need to be changed offten. Im planning on tossing the yosh box and going to stock ignition with stock valve springs.

Any input would be great.

Get some Ron Hamp springs, and valves too. Better than the Kibblewhite stuff.

16,200 miles on a used E model which i have no idea how many miles previously on it. hotcams stage 2 in & out with stock valve springs.

i'm probably going to regret typing that:banghead:

brittlewhite is most likely the problem

You might want to try the RMZ 450 springs. I think they are reasonably priced. I have the Hot Cams with the RMZ valves & springs. I am an old guy and don't beat the bike to death but I don't baby it either. I don't remember hitting the rev limiter.

Thanks guys. Anyone running the yosh ignition?

Is that beating the springs up more than the cams?

you arent supposed to run the yosh CDI without the yosh valve spring retainers. they are different than the stock ones and are required for use with their CDI since it revs a bit higher.

the cdi is definately harder on the springs, but thats not your issue.

all the kibblewhites that i have been involved with broke with the stock cdi.

Are they a race only application(psi)? The people building my head said I would need to change them more regularly.

you can buy a compleat rebuild kit from Ron Hamp

with new one pease valves .. better springs .. and retainders

they are the same as what Eddies 57+ HP uses ( but he has the 1 MM bigger valves

I want this as well. Maybe we must get Forrest from Wheeling or the TT store to start reselling RHC valve kits.

Ron will you be able to produce enough ?
