WR250R Fork/Handlebar Damage

Recommended Posts

My friend Brian had what seemed like a minor spill last weekend and now something is defenitely bent. The bike went down on it's left side and at first we assumed a bent handlebar. When I sit on the bike and drive in a straight line, the triple clamps look to be turned slightly to the left. It does not seem like he went down hard enough to bend a fork leg. I am starting to question whether the front axle may be bent, although we ran out of time to pull and inspect it. What else should we check.

Something just could be pinched or kinked a little.

I'd loosen up the fork tubes, and front axle first just to

take tension off of everything - the bars and triple clamps too...

Give the front end a few twists and bounces and see if things fall back into

a more normal allignment before thinking about going out and buying

new parts.

This kind of stuff is par for the course if you're riding hard out in the dirt

I did loosen up the frt. axle nut and pinch bolts, then retorque. I did not do the same with the triple clamps.

yes, the triples...as said that's a normal twist to a small fall...one thing tho', don't overtorque the triple clamp lower bolts, you can cause the front suspension to drag.
