The Earliest TT500 I know of!

Recommended Posts

I have a Yamaha TT500 that is VIN#583000250, as far as I understand it is bike numbr 250 off the production line. I wanted to ask if anyone knows how to read the numbers and date the bike. Also any opinions of what it would be worth, it is pretty much totally stock (apart from Preston petty fenders) and has been dry stored for 15 years. A new condenser an oil flush and it now runs beautifully.

Any info on this would be greatly appreciated.

you are probably right, but you would be better off contacting Yamaha to be sure. They may have assigned blocks of numbers (i.e. 582-583-584) depending on location manufactured or destination.

yes that could be the case. I am in the process of sending in to Yamaha with a £50 cheque for an official dating letter. One would think that this will be the definitive way to date it. I think that the TT500 began in the back end of 1975.
