470cc big bore kit

Recommended Posts

Has anybody who has used a 470cc bigbore kit, got any advice about the best cams, springs etc. to use with it. i.e. Stage 1,or 2 for inlet and exhaust? Are there any reliability problems, fuel needs, or frequent rebuilds necessary, if using a bore, this big? What would be the best carb for a kit this big? Thanks.

Thinking about same mod my self, allready got the athena 94 mm bigbore kit,

and will be in need for a stroker crank and a new piston.

Have been reading a lot of posts about this ,and if I havent misunderstood completly :

Carb : 41mm fcr

Cams and springs/valves from RHC

A deacent bigbore kit

Spacer for cylinder

Hot Rod stroker kit

Will draw more fuel as it's more power...

They say with good maintenance and oilchanges,it will last very long, one had over 8000 miles on his without any trouble.

the 470cc motors you read about here are combination of +4mm bore and +5mm stroke.

you definately do not want a 470 that is all bore.

Why not? it is simply because no 98mm drz pistons has ever been made? Ive seen 490cc bigbore for the RMZ450, which has the same stroke as the DRZ. Would a 470cc stock stroke DRZ would be a good thing? I mean, they share pretty much the same sizing specs except for the cylinder bore, why it shouldnt works? If a custom cylinder and piston were made do you think it would have the same power potential of the RMZ?

thanks!

the 97mm has been made.

it puts the combustion chamber to close to the water jacket.they have major head gasket sealing issues.

a rmz up till 08 only made 46-48hp.the 08's make 48-50.

i have made 48-50hp with a 94mm bore, cam, fcr and pipe combo on the drz.

trust me,you dont want a 470cc bore only.

the power can be had ... but for how long is the ishoo

if you fallow Eddies list of goodys to make 57HP you will have a motor that lastes just as long as the stocker

some guys are over 50,000 miles on the DRZ with modds or with out

I upping this thread for some dumb questions.

i have drz 400, 3x3, full Yosh rs-2, fcr39.

i want to make 470\485cc drz for ~55hp

where i can read list of changes?

should i change the carb for fcr41?

and.. compress ratio 13-1? Fuel in Russia is bad quality (and high price!). i think "13:1" its too much for 95 benzin (Gasoline).

thanks for your help, guys!

ps. I tried to find some info in forum threads, but too much slang there.🤣

You will need a lot of things :

1. Bigbore Millennium or athena 94mm

2. Hotrods stroker crank +5mm

3. Cylinderspacer from eddie

4. Porting of cylindertop

5. Larger valves, stronger springs (rhc for both)

6. Agressive cams (Rhc 187)

7. Probably 4 basegaskets ,2 on each side of spacer.

8. Fcr mx 41

9. Yoshimura trc ti or mrd ssw exhausts

10. prepped piston..

Eddie is so nice to offer all this info

but he did hold back one little part

Eddie ports the head a speshel way and only Eddie can do it

so to see 57+HP will need to sead the head to Eddie

if your looking for 47to50 HP than there is no head porting needed just ( 39mm FCR carb - exhoust pipe - hot cams - and big bor kit )

He-He.. Not half the way.. this kit is only stroker rod and cylinder kit.

I would go for the spacer from eddie, and use a std. pison instead of the one in the kit.

For getting 57hp, you still need to get a ported head from eddie, with rhc oversize valves and springs, rhc cams, fcr mx 41 and a good exhausts and so on..

Eddie made my cylinder head with rhc goodies ,and it's worth every cent (and more). If you look for performance , Eddie is the man.

Out of curiosity, how much was the cost to ship the head to Eddie and get the work done?
